MAESTRI OGGI (Masters Today)
MAESTRI OGGI (Masters Today)
Curated by Leonarda Zappulla
December 14–17, 2018
From December 14 to 17, 2018, the evocative halls of Palazzo Velli, in the heart of Trastevere, will host one hundred works by Italian and international artists. The international event "Maestri Oggi"—conceived and curated by art historian and critic Leonarda Zappulla—is organized by ART NOW - Serradifalco Edizioni of Palermo.
Rome—a capital of ancient art and the most eclectic forms of experimentation—welcomes this event, which centers on championing independent creativity as a preferred vehicle for freedom and emancipation. By bringing together diverse voices—each equally representative of the vast contemporary artistic landscape—the exhibition aims to highlight the plurality of today’s trends, poised between tradition and its natural stylistic evolution.
In the introductory text of the exhibition catalog, Leonarda Zappulla states: "This exhibition aims to map a journey through diverse artistic languages. Varied visions and sensibilities converge here to create a synthesis that touches upon every facet of contemporary art—from figuration and abstraction to conceptual art. Through the works on display, we present a cross-section of the current artistic landscape, highlighting themes that have always captivated artists: humanity, love, passion, childhood, femininity, integration, and experimentation with physical materials and their tactile qualities."
The opening ceremony will take place on December 14 at 7:00 PM. Speakers will include:
Leonarda Zappulla, exhibition curator,
and publishers Sandro Serradifalco and Pietro Serradifalco.
The exhibited works are featured in the volume Maestri Oggi (published by Art Now; ISBN 978-88-943970-0-0), which includes critical texts by Leonarda Zappulla and has been available since January via the Mondadori and Feltrinelli online stores. The artists participating in the exhibition are:
