EXIT _ Migrating into the Arts
ROME – STREET ART AND MIGRATION IN A SINGLE EVENT
On January 12, 2019, Palazzo Velli will host an event designed to stir the emotions.
Through street art, Exit examines the phenomenon of migration from every angle.
Renowned street artists are taking part:
Maupal, Ernesto Notarantonio, Uman, Daniela Melli, and Valerio Di Benedetto.
Mauro Pallotta—known as Maupal and famous for his magnificent, distinctive depictions of the Pope—and Ernesto Notarantonio—a skilled photographer and Polaroid wizard—will give live performances, complementing one another and dazzling the audience with colors and breathtaking shots.
Manuela Merlo (Uman) will also create a fascinating, intriguing piece live, while Daniela Melli and Valerio Di Benedetto—highly successful street poets—will exhibit some of their works on the subject.
Valerio Di Benedetto’s displayed poems will be accompanied by readings from Leonor Solange Alexandre Proença, author of the book Libera di volare con il pensiero ("Free to Fly with Thought").
Guests will enjoy traditional Puglian street-food delicacies from Vuliò and experience the event’s magical "emotional corner," leaving their own mark as a memento of the evening.
DJ set by Fabio Sestili (Ipologica).
The ultimate goal of Exit is to raise social awareness regarding migration; to this end, it supports a fundraiser for the organization Intersos—specifically for the renovation project of Intersos24, their primary care and reception center for unaccompanied minors.
Exit is a brand-new, creative, and emotionally engaging event that keeps pace with the times. We tell the story of the migration inherent in each of us—not by starting with an entry, but with an exit.
We migrate from childhood to youth, from youth to adulthood; we migrate away from loves and jobs. All of us in search of a better place to land.
Exit allows us to understand our history and origins by immersing ourselves in the emotions that belong to us all—yet which we too often overlook.
