Alessandro Siviglia was born in Salerno in 1982. He began his artistic journey in his teens, expressing himself through the "writing" phenomenon; drawn to aerosol art, he pursued his passion for graffiti for over 15 years.

While his studies at the "Filiberto Menna" Art Institute in Salerno laid the foundation for his professional growth, his experiences on the street—painting in various Italian cities—proved even more significant.

His distinctive, personal use of color and his bold, spontaneous brushwork—creating canvases in a single, fluid burst of energy—stem from his graffiti background.

In 2000, Siviglia moved to Venice, where he began associating with local artists and—almost unknowingly—gravitating toward canvas painting. It was in this setting that he created his first canvases, including Il Fumador (The Smoker). This work depicts a faceless man dressed in black and vibrant colors, wearing a fiery red hat and sitting beneath a palm tree; through this painting, the artist represents his own personal island—a sanctuary away from city life.

In the spring of 2008, the artist met a young Spanish woman who became his girlfriend. He decided to move to Valencia, Spain, where he embarked on a creative path that led him to deeply explore canvas painting and exhibit his first works.

In Valencia’s lively El Carmen district, Siviglia observed the local people, animals, and colors, absorbing these elements and pouring them onto his canvases. It was during this period that he painted Cangatto, a highly distinctive work that was unfortunately stolen during an exhibition.

Acrylic painting became an increasing passion for the artist; setting graffiti art aside, he began creating works using whatever objects came to hand—such as reclaimed wooden planks, old doors, or wardrobe panels.

This new approach marked a turning point in Siviglia’s artistic career, leading him to create paintings with softer forms and a preference for large-scale formats, which allowed him to translate his graffiti style onto canvas.

His desire to depict subjects on a grand scale led him to seek out disused spaces—such as abandoned factories—which he skillfully revitalized through his creations.

To this day, Alessandro Siviglia creates modern paintings using a combination of spray paint and acrylics—a highly personal mixed-media technique refined over recent years that defines his unique, inimitable style.

Following his father’s death, the artist left Spain and returned briefly to his hometown, where he continued to paint, producing over 700 works in the three years following 2010.

In 2013, while out with friends in Milan, Alessandro met the woman who would become his wife and with whom he would later move to Rome.

In his new Rome studio, the artist is able to withdraw, delve deep, and lay bare his inner world, breathing true life into his artworks.
